Ms.Chevious

At five years old, Melanie decided she would become an artist. By the age of ten she was already selling her drawings and paintings. Throughout her middle and high school years she expanded her skills while working for the newspaper, painting commercial and residential murals, and prop & set design for the theater.  

After graduation, numerous side quests earned her valuable life and business skills. She managed a tourist-heavy convenience store and a large movie theater, mastering customer service, bookkeeping, and inventory management. As an artist for a sign company, she was taught large-scale painting and sculpting, and her prop and sign work has been sold and displayed internationally.  

In 2017 she registered Ms.Chevious, LLC as her full-time art business. All of the skills she learned along the way built a solid foundation to succeed as an artist. While focusing on whimsical original art, she expanded into prints, self-made merch of her own designs, and coloring books. She has won chalk art competitions, participated in Northwest Iowa Art tours, had work displayed in galleries across Iowa, and presented yearly for the Young Artists conference in Marshall since 2019. In 2023 she added a side hustle of “Face Graffiti,” commercial face painting for the local area. In the summer she tours the Midwest comic book conventions and runs the local farmers market.
