Talon Cavender-Wilson & Anya Kalk, Artist Bio
Anya is a Swedish artist with a background in traditional crafts and a fascination for modern technology. She works with woodcarving, illustration, and 3D design, blending digital tools with handmade techniques to explore tradition through a contemporary lens.
Talon Cavender-Wilson, a member of the Upper Sioux Reservation in Minnesota, is an artisanal blacksmith with roots in Dakota culture. After high school, he traveled to Sweden to study traditional Scandinavian woodworking and blacksmithing, earning a journeyman’s certificate in Artisanal Blacksmithing.
The two met while studying traditional crafts in Sweden and now collaborate under the name Chasing Monsters. Their work involves research into folklore and myth, exploring the forms and symbolism of creatures from different cultures through sculpture in wood and metal.
