Diane Trew, Artist Bio

I am a fiber artist with a BFA in Textile Design. I have always been attracted to the fiber arts. Fabric and yarn, their colors, textures and patterns. Weaving allows me to explore all of these elements and the paradoxes within them. Fiber art can be simplistic or complex, structured or unstructured, plain or patterned, playful or elegant.

I have recently been weaving scarves in order to experiment with different materials and techniques in weaving. I am exploring different fibers and weave structures as well as just allowing myself to play using saori (free) weaving techniques.

My love of pattern has also led me to the Zentangle method of pattern drawing, which I have been practicing for the last 10 years. This method is meditative and mindful in nature and this past year I traveled to Rhode Island to to become a Certified Zentangle Teacher.
