Joe Hauger, Artist Bio
Joe Hauger enjoys making all sorts of things out of wood. His first carvings as a child were made of soap, then as a teenager he began carving wooden animal and cowboy figurines. Later he learned chip carving, acanthus (leaf scroll) carving and spoon carving. Lately he’s grown fond of making boxes, carving cooking utensils and caricatures, and making wooden toys for his children. His biggest project so far was building the family kitchen table of oak with only hand tools. Many of his projects are polished smooth to the touch and become “art for the fingers” as well as the eyes.
