Katia Andreeva, Artist Bio
Minneapolis, MN
Katia Andreeva, a native of Russia, was educated at the Mukhina Academy of Art and Design in St. Petersburg, Russia. She has been a Meander artist since its inception.
What follows is her brief artistic statement:
“I am looking for the extraordinary quality, the “magic” to shine through the image. I start a painting with a vision to reveal that extraordinary quality, not just a visual representation of the image. I draw and perfect the composition while the painting is wet; I am looking for the moment it will start to come alive–whether it be a whisper, a breeze, a shimmering light, or movement.
I love watercolor because of its own living nature. As we work together, watercolor becomes my partner, and our hearts beat in the same rhythm.
Nature is always a source of inspiration for me; so, too, are literature, poetry and personalities.”
