Stephanie Folk

Stephanie Folk has lived in the Big Stone Lake area nearly her entire life. Her love of painting started as a kid when her dad bought some random paint and brushes from the hardware store and let her paint the walls of her bedroom.

She went to college for graphic design, but a professor encouraged her to add a fine arts focus as well—a decision she’s still grateful for today. After a graphic design career based out of St.Paul, Stephanie taught art in the Ortonville schools for a couple of years and now teaches classes through her studio, Moon and Back Art Studios, at Big Stone Commons in Big Stone City, SD.

She enjoys working in a variety of mediums, including acrylics, watercolor, pastels, and whatever else catches her interest. She’s always learning and trying something new. For Stephanie, art is therapy—it’s where she finds peace, quiet, and a chance to simply create – a theme she encourages at her studio.
